Frank Arnold Grand Opening Announcement

Frank Arnold opens new art space, Frank Arnold Art|Studio 58 and kicks off AfterHop for ArtHop on September 6 from 8-11pm.  Frank Arnold Art/Studio 58 is located at 359 “O” Street in downtown Fresno; 301-1148; website: www.frankarnoldart.com.

Artist Statement:  "Painting is like dreaming for me; abstract and surreal. While my art is abstract, it maintains a sense of realism, just like a dream. When I paint, I am honest with myself. Others put their own meaning to the work. For me, like a dream, once complete, some meaning is again hidden."  By Frank Arnold

An established mainstay of the Central California art scene artist Frank Arnold’s impasto abstract painting style exhibits a color sense and comfort level with the medium as he pours his inner most feelings onto the canvas.  Each work is representative of his ongoing self-exploration of past and present life experience.  Each element in color and form represents a very particular emotion or event, spelled out in a personal code, which frees Arnold of the thought, yet protects it from discovery.

Arnold’s work is shown in several prominent Central California venues with numerous works residing in private collections throughout the world.  His work is regularly shown in his own studio in the prestigious Denise Roberge Art Gallery of Palm Desert, Palm Springs, California; Frank Arnold Gallery in San Jose Del Cabo, B.C.S., Mexico, Frank Arnold Art Studio 58 in Fresno, California, and his website, www.frankarnoldart.com.  Arnold is a co-founder of ArtHop, the largest single regular art event in Central California.  ArtHop is held on the first Thursday of each month and has grown from three to over 60 studios.  He is starting an extension of ArtHop, called AfterHop, a late hour’s wrap-up of the evening until 11:00 pm.

Arnold is currently building a new studio/gallery in San Jose Del Cabo, B.C.S., Mexico.  The location is in the established arts.  The plan includes a street front gallery for display and selected gatherings, as well as an on-site working studio and living quarters.  With the significant growth in this region over the past five years, the art community has become an international draw.  Arnold hopes to divide his time between both San Jose Del Cabo and Fresno with working space and galleries in both locations.  Frank Arnold may be reached personally at 559-301-1148, or by email through his website, www.frankarnoldart.com

Notable Notes:

"The works simply demand to be seen in the flesh, for only in person can viewers read the painterly surface; its thin washes, thick impasto passages, rich colors, clear ice shellac... Like De Kooning, Gorky, or Hans Hofmann, Frank Arnold paints from his gut."    Glen Starkey, New Times, San Luis Obispo, CA

"Frank Arnold is one of the Great Eight... Fresno artists’ team up for a rare exhibit designed to showcase talent..."    Marty Berry, The Fresno Bee, Fresno, CA

"Frank Arnold has a thorough command of color and form... He paints who he is."

Jacqueline Pilar, Curator, Fresno Art Museum, Fresno, CA
